Two operating modes
During the crushing season the mill needs process steam and bagasse is plentiful. Outside the season the plant may keep generating from stored bagasse or other biomass. The turbine type decides how well both modes are covered.
- Back-pressure — simplest and most efficient while the mill is crushing.
- Extraction-condensing — supplies process steam in season and keeps generating power off season, so export capacity is not idle for half the year.
Raising output from the same cane
Mills that run at low steam pressure can export more electricity per tonne of cane by moving to higher-pressure boilers and turbines, together with lower process steam consumption. A new or replacement turbine is the core of that upgrade.
Planning checklist
- Cane crushing rate and season length
- Process steam demand per tonne of cane and its pressure level
- Bagasse availability, including off-season storage
- Grid connection capacity and tariff structure
- Boiler steam parameters (existing or planned)
What we need to quote
Send these parameters and we will propose a configuration:
- Steam flow (t/h) and inlet pressure / temperature at the turbine inlet
- Back-pressure or exhaust pressure, or condenser conditions and cooling-water temperature
- Required electrical output (kW / MW) and grid frequency (50 Hz / 60 Hz)
- Extraction (process steam) pressure and flow, if any
- Fuel type and site altitude / ambient conditions

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you upgrade an existing sugar mill turbine?
Yes. We supply replacement turbines and major components to match the mill's boiler and process steam requirement.
Back-pressure or extraction-condensing for a sugar mill?
Back-pressure is simplest if the plant runs only in season. If you want to export power outside the crushing season, extraction-condensing is usually the better fit.
Do you serve distilleries and ethanol plants?
Yes. The same cogeneration approach applies to distilleries that burn bagasse or other biomass for steam and power.
Can you supply the generator and auxiliaries too?
Yes, as a complete set with generator, auxiliaries and controls, or as individual parts.
