What makes waste-fired steam different

A waste boiler produces steam from a fuel whose heating value and composition change from day to day. The turbine has to tolerate that variation and stay reliable over long operating runs.

  • Variable steam flow — output follows waste throughput and calorific value, so governing and part-load behaviour matter.
  • Steam chemistry — chlorine and alkali compounds in the fuel make steam purity and blade-material choice important for long life.
  • Availability — waste plants often run continuously, so reliability and spare-part access drive the value of the machine.

Configuration choices

  • Condensing — maximises electrical output where there is no district-heat or process steam user.
  • Back-pressure or extraction — suits plants that also supply district heating or an industrial steam user, which improves overall energy use.
  • The best choice depends on the local heat market and grid-export arrangement, which we can review with you during the proposal.

Information we need to quote

Send these parameters and we will propose a configuration:

  • Steam flow (t/h) and inlet pressure / temperature at the turbine inlet
  • Back-pressure or exhaust pressure, or condenser conditions and cooling-water temperature
  • Required electrical output (kW / MW) and grid frequency (50 Hz / 60 Hz)
  • Extraction (process steam) pressure and flow, if any
  • Fuel type and site altitude / ambient conditions
  • Waste throughput (t/d) and design calorific value (kJ/kg), if known
  • Local grid connection and whether heat supply is planned

Retrofit for existing waste-to-energy plants

Many waste plants run turbines that have aged under corrosive steam conditions. We supply replacement rotors, blades, diaphragms, gland seals and governing components, so output and reliability can be restored without replacing the whole power block.

Frequently Asked Questions

What power sizes do you supply for waste-to-energy plants?

Turbine-generator sets in the up-to-50 MW class. Send your waste throughput and steam parameters, and we will confirm the best-fit machine.

How do you handle corrosive steam from waste boilers?

Material selection and steam-path design are set to the expected steam chemistry, and we can review the operating conditions with your boiler supplier.

Can you supply a turbine for an existing waste-to-energy plant?

Yes, as a replacement set or as components for retrofit. Send nameplate data, drawings or photos and the current operating history.

Do you hold quality certifications?

Yes. Our quality management system is ISO certified and our equipment carries CE certification. We can provide certificate copies on request.
